I lost my phone on holiday recently and one of my first thoughts was how am I going to wake up in the morning, I have no alarm!
Sad i know, but it's a perfect example of how attached we are to them
They are so advanced now they literally do everything
Except one thing
The batteries don't last!
Plugging in your phone gives it charge so it functions properly
This is exactly the same as how our body works with stress
We are highly stressed individuals, and exercise is another stress
If we are full of stress, it drains our "batteries" and we need to plug in and "recharge" (sleep and relaxation)
If we don't have enough time destressing it's like plugging you phone in on 2% for 10 minutes and expecting it to last for an entire night out
But we expect our bodies to do that!
Take training for example
On the graph below:
If you don't allow adequate time to recover and train too frequently the graph drops and drops and drops and you get ZERO results
Lots of factors affect how quickly you recover, but the main two are how much stress you have and how much sleep you get!
To decide if you should train or not ask yourself these four questions:
(score yourself 1. Crap 2. Could be Better or 3. Superb for each question)
1. How have you been sleeping?
2. How has your diet and hydration been in the last few days?
3. How does your body feel?
4. How do you feel mentally?
You'll get a score between 4 and 12
The lower the score, the more reason to rest and not train!
In addition to that, look to manage stress and get more sleep!
But leave enough time between sessions for your batteries to recharge....
